these are two of the exhibits that are at the Frist this summer. wonderful. 

Chuck Close - golly.  what a detailed, precise, ingenious, and incredibly talented modern artist. seriously. if only i had the money i'd be working as large scale as him... so i guess that is why he's making large scale at the age he is.  Let's be honest, he was probably scraping by and making little baby pieces like you and i when he was our age. 

Dean Byington. If you ever get the chance to see his work in real life, you'll be blown away - so much detail - so much imagination - so many stories and so much magic in it. 

if you don't know about them, you've got so much to explore. both are reviving. both are inspiring. i haven't been breathless or speechless over art in awhile... so these guys really brought life back into it.  

beautiful beautiful.  so many more things to learn from and get ideas from.

coming back to a favorite of mine - here's a little taste for you.

Audrey Kawasaki has a great way of portraying the female body and emotion. her work is beautiful. a lot of delicate, intricate, yet hard and harsh work. its wonderful. here are some favorites.

new friends & new ideas

imogene + willie

located in an old gas station on 12th with a beautiful lab to greet you at the door.  new friends. they have great jeans and they will custom make jeans as well.  great people, great product. scratch that - replace the word great with incredible.  they also go digging and have some amazing finds for sale - particularly a dead stock military boxer that happens to look fantastic as a pair of high waisted shorts (or whatever you will) with some pretty bad ass pockets.  check them out. i support them. they need to be known of. 

lets just say i've been working on my studies of the human body.  i know, i know. no new art as of recent  - my computer crashed and i lost everything i was going to put up, so bare with me. however, i've been doing some drawings and i'll give you a taste by way of reference images. 

i'll get some of the images of the pieces as soon as i re-download photoshop and illustrator, etc.
