i'm getting kind of sick of seeing this napkin. over and over again. i wish people would leave more interesting bits of things behind.... however, this dinosaur is pretty great.

if you haven't figured this out yet, i haven't done a good job of opening up my life:  i have a deep, inexplicable love for monsters. they're slightly scary, weird, creepy. they're outcasts & loners. they often look weird, with giant mouths or extra eyes (which just draws me in closer). and let's be honest, they don't really want to hurt you, but maybe build a tent/fort in the forest and go canoeing... and they like berries, and i'm pretty sure they love vegetables. which just leaves me, a sucker, for them. i can't help it, i can't resist a good monster. so while this slightly breaks the rules, it is found, it's kind of advertisement, but, let it slide?

this illustration makes my heart happier than most things. geez.

i'm not sure but i think this girl was so upset that her flower plant? pie? was gone that she just stopped writing.... or her mom took the note away from her.

so i figured i'd let you know why i've recently fallen off the planet.  no mexico = more work (with a wonky schedule). a little bit of play and a few distractions... like shows, and birthdays, and friends moving back into town. which has kept me pretty far from (but annoyingly close to) my studio. there are a bunch of projects that i'm either working on, or about to be, and i think life will get a little nuts.

oh yeah, and then there was a huge storm that knocked half the power out of east nashville and threats for more bad weather. this year's weather systems are really tearing the south up - hopefully the storms will cease soon and cities will be able to rebuild what's been destroyed.

next up: poster for Nathanael Mehrens which will include bones & something pretty.

a million years ago i had access to the creative hustle studio... the building was once a retirement home, in which were a lot of scary things, about 3 ghosts, lots of old clothes, and stuffed animals. amongst those, i found this picture:

so remember the this guy, the photo that kick-started my Found project?

well, the actual person, in the photograph, came into work yesterday. such a weird experience.  i had a few double-takes and then realized that i recognized him because of some creepy photo that i found and held onto.  any way, i was giggling in side and slightly creeped out, and perhaps a little mortified and ashamed. he had no idea. he was a sweet customer.

on a separate note, i started to change the blog a little bit. there are still some tweaks that need to happen, but i'm running out of time this morning. what do you think?

found: photo (the beginnings)

this is the initial piece that started all the ideas for my Found project.  i first wanted to collect photos of strangers, which i kind of accomplished when i bought Lots of vintage family photos, which is actually kind of creepy. you're now finding out that i have more strange obsessions that you probably thought, and trust me, i have more than you've imagined. but i dare you, imagine.  however, the photo strangers didn't really happen, there weren't any plausible ways of going about it. but that turned into artmail, which i am still figuring out the logistics but, i think there are some great things in store. 

so. i present to you this stranger, who is now a small part of the Found Project:
